About

Past Life Halloween is a fundraising party benefit for Maiti Nepal, an organization that has attacked sex slavery and trafficking of young girls on all fronts, from prevention and rehabilitation to health and hospice. The issue is severe and it is global, so this event will be part education as well as entertainment, dance and celebration.

The Past Life costume theme is a celebratory tradition in the Awakened Mind Meditation Center, the Buddhist school sponsoring the event. Dress accordingly.

There will be meditation and DJs and we encourage EVERYONE to get on the floor and dance for those still in bondage to be released and dance again. Wear your most exciting past life costume and prepare for some serious dancing!

This show is about freedom on all levels - expression, speech, art, but most importantly, in the very real and concrete sense, for the children stolen from their homes and sold into slavery. If you cannot attend, please send your money and bring as much attention as possible to the organization Maiti Nepal.

100% of the proceeds go to Maiti Nepal.

See you there!!!

Maiti means "mother's home". The word denotes a girl's real family, the one she was born into. The word has a sentimental value especially for a married Nepali woman who no longer has any rights to her parents or their property. Maiti Nepal, however, is home to all women and girls - whether married or not - who are exploited and whose rights are grossly violated and neglected by both family and society.

Maiti Nepal was born in 1993 out of a crusade to protect Nepali girls and women from crimes like domestic violence, trafficking for flesh trade, child prostitution, child labor and various forms of exploitation and torture.

Maiti Nepal's special focus has always been on preventing trafficking for forced prostitution, rescuing flesh trade victims and rehabilitating them. This social organization also actively works to find justice for the victimized lot of girls and women by engaging in criminal investigation and waging legal battles against the criminals. Maiti Nepal has highlighted the trafficking issue with its strong advocacy from the local to national and international levels.
